MARLENE AQUINO VIEL

She was born in La Havana, Cuba.

She began her first musical studies at the age of three, with the teacher

At three years of age her mother Music Theacher, Emma Viel, introduced her in the music world with ther first music lessons, continuing the piano studios in the Music Corservatory Guillermo Tomás from Guanabacoa,

Studies:

Harmony and Counterpoint with teachers  Alfredo Diez Nieto and Ramiro reyes

Acting and Corporal expression with Professor Armando Suárez del Villar, and Raquel Revuelta;

Vocal Technique with Masters Rafael Aquino, Emma Viel, Antonio Lázaro, María Antonia Cabrera, and Ángel Menéndez, Pedro Lavirgen and Cristina Carlín.

 

She has a degree in Music with specialization in Singing from the Higher Institute of Arts of Cuba.

While studying at the Higher Institute of Arts, she was selected by the Czech cembalist Peter Self as an Illustrator singer in her Master Classes on the Baroque style.

She played the character of Hadley (Hemingway’s first wife) at the world premiere of the Contemporary Opera “Ernest Hemingway” y Russian composer Yuri Kasarian and under the musical direction of Elena Herrera.

Under the direction of Maestro Armando Suárez del Villar, she played the role of Celia, in the Opera Trova “Donde Crezca el Amor”, by the composer Angel Quintero, at the National Theater of Cuba.

She played the role of Venus, at the world premiere of the Electroacoustic Opera “Venus y Adonis”, by the composer Calixto Álvarez, at the V International Festival of electroacoustic music.

She recorded the music for the television series “The Emperor and the Nightingale” performing the voice of the nightingale, composer Juan Piñera.   She participated in the “Europe Invites Young People to Honor W.A. Mozart “contest, which was held at the Theater La Fenice “in Venice, and in all the cities where the composer lived, She received a Special Mention from the Jury and the opportunity to study at the Academy of Lyric Art, in the city of Osimo , Italy

She was part of the International Company of Operettas, in Italy, during three seasons, under the direction of Carlo Rivolta.

She has performed in theaters of:

She  has interpreted the Operas: “La Sonnambula” by V. Bellini, Rigoletto, by G. Verdi, Carmen, by G. Bizet. The operettas; “The Merry Widow”, “The Count of Luxembourg”, and “Frasquita”, the composer F. Lehar. Shee was part of the cast of the show “Donne, Donne, Donne”, with a selections of operettas.

As a soloist singer of the Gran Teatro de la Habana she made numerous national and international tours, singing the repertoire of Operas, Operettas and Zarzuelas, and participating in countless Festivals,

Enjoy lectures on History of the Opera, Zarzuela, Classical music in general.

Master Classes in the Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Council, Cultural Area of El Corte Inglés and in the Assembly Hall of the Casa del Fester.

She is a teacher of the Musical Union of Benidorm Music School.

She is currently the President of t AFRATEX Cultural Association, developing countless cultural activities.
